Use cases
01. Safe for extreme climates
The abundant energy source provided by the sun allows solar generation to be deployed almost anywhere—at an increasingly comparatively low cost—making it a primary component in any clean energy ecosystem. But two key drawbacks are preventing faster, more widespread adoption. First, peak energy generation, generally at midday, does not usually coincide with peak demand, which usually happens after the sun sets. And second, the largest solar farm opportunities are often in very hot, dry, climates, where there’s the greatest available land and annual sunshine—but also the greatest fire risk.
That’s where our Eos energy storage systems—powered by our ZnythTM battery technology—come in. Deployed alongside solar energy farms, all mid-duration, intra-day battery systems allow power to be gathered when the sun is brightest and then distributed later in the day when demand is highest. And our zinc-powered technology brings added benefits: it’s both safer and simpler. Inherently non-flammable and requiring no high-cost and high-maintenance ancillary HVAC or fire suppression systems, a hybrid solar + Eos storage system becomes a truly reliable renewable solution that can run in any environment.
Perfect for pairing with solar power farms, Eos storage systems deliver power when the sun stops shining.
02. Fits in local environments
Wind farms are an effective means of taking advantage of persistent natural phenomena to add clean power to the energy mix. In fact, there are countless inland regions and offshore locations where heavy winds are a prominent feature, both day and night. But like solar, wind is intermittent, and this inconsistency means it can’t be counted on to align with the relatively regular daily demand curve for energy. Further—and sometimes more importantly—wind installation programs often meet resistance from local communities concerned about the impact on prized landscapes.
That’s why Eos zinc-powered storage is the key to a successful wind power project. Like all BESS solutions, Eos systems ensure that power is captured from the strongest winds so that its energy can be transmitted on demand, exactly when—and where—it’s needed most. But unlike others, our inherently non-flammable, non-corrosive Eos Znyth battery technology can be safely housed indoors—in our compact, containerized Eos Cubes, in new, custom-built Eos Hangars, or in Eos Stacks, which can be installed within existing, underused or abandoned buildings. In all cases, in a hybrid wind + Eos storage project, our BESS installation easily blends into the environment, helping alleviate community challenges—and a “Gigawatt Garden” style implementation could even act as a catalyst for local economic and ecological renewal.
A critical component of the renewable energy mix, Znyth storage technology keeps wind and solar energy stored until it can go to the grid.
